I was fortunate to have grown up on a farm... with the freedom to roam the back fields as much as i wanted. Often i'd fly kites and lay on the ground and just stare at the sky, the clouds, my kite, the eagles and the hawks and just hang out for hours on end... Flying kites gave me a lot of joy... I loved collecting kites and even making my own... Once i had a very small (10x10-inch) square kite that my mom gave me - it was the best kite ever! It was called a 'sky-writer' cuz it had a really long tail... I had a blast writing big huge letters in the sky and making it do lots of tricks... I think i wore that kite out i loved it so much! Sometimes, i'd put up more than one kite at a time - in fact, i loved flying kites sooo much i really wanted to be a professional kite flyer when i grew up. Though, i never knew if there ever was such a thing... I even painted the words, 'professional kite flyer' on the back of one of my jackets... Though, i learned later that kites have a long history in many cultures all over the world - some dating back as far as the 16th century... and, still to this day, there are many amazing kite festivals globally... (see the youtube video below)... The kite i still have is a very special kind of kite called a 'para foil'... It's a 'lift kite' which can actually lift or pull stuff. They are sewn out of ripstop nylon with pockets that fill with air - which helps them lift up into the sky... plus making them a very strong kite. The military use very large para foil kites to lift heavy equipment out of remote areas... And, you often see them at the beach where folk fly with them above or on the water... They're attached to a boat or folk fly them freely on the updrafts - They are sport kites and sometimes they're called a 'flex foil'... They're very cool and the small ones are great as a first kite for kids, because they go up so easily in a light wind and will stay up... Anyway, i found flying kites to be solace for my soul - as they really helped me let go of all the things that i worried about as a kid... i would commune with the sky and the cloud people (as i called them), the sun and sometimes even the moon when her face showed up during the day... We all had a special relationship with each other... they were my good friends... and, they were always there for me - even my kite! They taught me a lot! Have a beautiful day + go fly a kite.... it helps... :o) with brightest blessings... weaver x (((o)))

A few years ago we were visiting family before we embarked on a road trip to Oregon state. During our time hangin' and having fun with our granddaughters, my partner was having extra special fun showing them how to do jumping jacks...
She's very good at jumping jacks. She showed them so well by jumping about 100 times all at once and it was pretty impressive and truly amazing to watch... I certainly could never do that many jumping jacks in a row... However, as i watched my beloved jump and jump with such vigor and so fast, i couldn't help but wonder if she may hurt herself... i hoped not.... Well... that next morning, my partner could hardly get out of bed she was in such pain. She felt so bad and somewhat embarrassed sharing this with her granddaugter, Willow, who wisely said to her......... "Gramma, don't apologize for your spirit!" This holy doodle is my own personal response to the recent Irish abortion referendum vote that happened in Ireland on May 25, 2018 to repeal the 8th amendment…
There was an overwhelming majority voting "YES!" to repeal this old law... giving all Irish women the right to choose what happens to their own bodies. No one has a right to choose for anyone else… a basic human right is the right to have choice + choose… Congratulations Ireland for helping to pave the way for all women everywhere! Yahooooo!... weaver x (((o))) • More on the voting results here >> |
